Nam Cat Tien is a local park for me, so I visit often. Therefore I’ve only listed sightings for a typical three-day visit. The park has extremely high biodiversity, so your own sightings (particularly of birds and herps) might vary considerably.

Excellent Sightings:

Birds - Bronzed Drongo, GRT Drongo, WR Shama, Stripe-Throated Bulbul, Streak-Eared Bulbul, Black-Hooded Oriole, Black-and-Red Broadbill, Racket-Tailed Treepie, Great Iora, Common Flameback, Laced Woodpecker, White-Throated Kingfisher, Green Peafowl, Olive-Backed Sunbird, Ruby-Cheeked Sunbird, Chestnut-Headed Beeeater, Zebra Dove, Bar-Winged Flycatcher Shrike.

Mammals - Long-Tailed Macaque, Black-Shanked Douc, Northern Smooth-Tailed Treeshrew, Northern Red Muntjac, Pallas’ Squirrel, Short-Nosed Fruit Bats (check under the roof of the HQ restaurant!).

Herps - Siamese Crocodile, Tokay Gecko, Common Sunskink, Vietnamese Blue-Crested Lizard, Brown Treefrog.

Good Sightings:

Birds - Oriental Pied Hornbill, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Yellow-Vented Flowerpecker, Green-Billed Malkoha, Crested Serpent-Eagle, Blue-Winged Leafbird, Jungle Fowl, Lineated Barbet, Red-Breasted Parakeet, Orange-Breasted Trogan, Osprey, Red-Wattled Lapwing, Lineated Barbet.

Mammals - Samba Deer, Southern Yellow-Cheeked Gibbon, Northern Pig-Tailed Macaque.

Herps - Mock Viper, Spotted Forest Skink, Bronze Mubaya, Clouded Monitor.

Sightings:

Birds - Asian Emerald Dove, Siamese Fireback, Blue-Eared Barbet, Dollarbird, Common Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Crested Goshawk, Great-Eared Nightjar, Large-Tailed Nightjar, Little Spiderhunter.

Mammals - Northern Treeshrew, Indochinese Ground Squirrel.

Rare Sightings Over Many Visits:

Birds - Dusky Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Banded Kingfisher, Germain’s Peacock Pheasant, Bar-Bellied Pitta, Brown Fish Owl, Lesser Adjutant, Rufous-Bellied Eagle, Blue-Winged Pitta (common on migration), Wreathed Hornbill, Greater Yellownape, Golden-Crested Myna, Stork-Billed Kingfisher, Black-Capped Kingfisher, Blue-Bearded Bee-Eater, Black-Headed Bulbul, Gray-Faced Tit-Babbler, Violet Cuckoo, Heart-Spotted Woodpecker, Black-and-Buff Woodpecker, Asian Barred Owlet, Collared Falconet, Grey-Headed Fish-Eagle, Purple-Naped Spiderhunter, Vernal Hanging Parrot, etc.

Mammals - Asian Elephant, Gaur, Yellow-Throated Marten, Wild Boar, Southeast Asian Palm Civet, Annamese Langur, Javan Mongoose, Pygmy Slow Lloris, Black Giant Squirrel.

Herps - Elongated Tortoise, Ruby-Eyed Green Pit-Viper (common but you need to be out at night), Golden Tree Snake, Southeast Asian Water Monitor, Orange-Winged Flying Dragon, South Asian Box Turtle, Asian Painted Toad, Crowned Pricklenape, Olive Dasia, Reticulated Python.
